Kazakhstani innovators conquered China: a member of the non-profit organization “TechnoWomen” with a team of students from Astana IT University won gold in the international arena
The Astana IT University team led by Zarina Kutpanova, a member of the NGO “TechnoWomen” and co-head of the chapter “TechnoWomen Astana”, won gold at the International Competition “One Belt, One Road” on innovative entrepreneurship in China, where more than 6,000 participants were initially announced.
The final of the competition was held from October 26 to November 2 in the city of Xi’an.
579 projects from 14 countries participated in the final stage of the competition, including teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, the UAE, Japan, New Zealand, Great Britain, India, Russia and China.

The “EnergyDrones AI” project, developed by students Nuraim Kuandyk and Nurlan Abzalbekov, is an innovative web platform for diagnosing solar panels using drones and artificial intelligence. The system achieves an impressive accuracy of 95% due to the use of advanced neural networks (KAN, CNN, ResNet-8).
This victory demonstrates the high level of training of Kazakhstani specialists and their ability to implement innovations on the global stage. The “EnergyDrones AI” project not only highlights the importance of environmentally friendly technologies, but also confirms the readiness of young Kazakhstani innovators to solve complex problems using advanced technologies. Participation and victory in the One Belt, One Road competition opens up new prospects for the team in international collaborations and development in the field of green technologies.
TechnoWomen is a non-profit organization that unites women working in various high-tech industries, such as IT, digital technologies, telecommunications, media, fintech, edutech, healthtech, biotech, ecotech, nanotech, robotics and space.
The main goal of TechnoWomen is to increase the number of girls and women working in technology industries, promote the development of female entrepreneurship and the formation of a new class of progressive women in Central Asia.
TechnoWomen is headed by Aziza Shuzheeva, a member of the National Commission on Women’s Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chairperson of the Board of the NGO TechnoWomen. Her activities in the National Commission are aimed at promoting initiatives that promote gender equality in technology sectors and training women in e-commerce skills.
