Digital Future of Kazakhstan: Results of IT Aiel and Aqly Tech Educational Initiatives

Kazakhstan is summarizing the comprehensive results of the IT Aiel and Aqly Tech educational projects, implemented in partnership with the Astana Hub technopark and supported by relevant ministries. These initiatives aim to provide mass training in digital professions, financial literacy, and the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, covering broad segments of the population, including residents of rural regions.

Over a three-year period, the IT Aiel training programs have reached over 21,000 girls and women. The project demonstrates high efficiency, as participants progress from a basic introduction to modern technologies to mastering full-fledged digital professions and launching their own digital initiatives. In the 2026 academic season, the program features 40 online lessons and 17 practical workshops, representing a 60 percent and 2.1-fold increase compared to the previous year, respectively. The educational process is driven by more than 100 qualified trainers and mentors, and the average usefulness rating given by participants stands at 4.31 out of 5.

Concurrently, the Aqly Tech project, focused on educating youth—including those in remote areas—has achieved significant milestones. The total number of trainees has exceeded 12,000. In 2025 alone, 6,264 graduates received official certificates, while another 6,004 certificates were issued during the 2025–2026 period. Youth under the age of 35 account for 93 percent of participants, with the core demographic concentrated between 21 and 35 years old.

The organizers place special emphasis on the practical application of acquired knowledge, particularly the integration of artificial intelligence tools. According to analytical data, 65.8 percent of graduates actively apply artificial intelligence in their work, studies, or personal projects. Two-wave sociological surveys indicate a qualitative growth in knowledge levels: the proportion of correct answers on specialized tests increased 3.7 times, rising from 11.3 to 42 percent, while the average knowledge score improved from 5.1 to 5.9 out of 7.

The regional reach of these initiatives is also expanding steadily. Offline events, including major regional forums and regular “IT-chai” networking meetings, have gathered over 826 participants across 14 cities and regions of the республика. Experts emphasize that such projects build a sustainable human capital base for the digital economy and help bridge the digital divide between major cities and regions.
